Ukrainian Drone Interceptions Over Russian Regions Continue

In a series of recent incidents, Russian air defenses have successfully intercepted multiple Ukrainian drones over various regions, according to reports from the Russian Defense Ministry press service.

The most recent update, from August 18, 2025, states that one Ukrainian drone was shot down over the Krasnodar Territory as part of a broader operation. A total of 23 Ukrainian drones were intercepted overnight across multiple regions, including Krasnodar, Tambov, Belgorod, Rostov, Crimea, and areas over the Azov and Black Seas.

Previously, on August 15-16, another drone was downed over the Krasnodar Territory, with dozens of drones being shot down in other regions during Ukrainian drone attacks.

The city of Anapa saw air defense operations on August 8, with the warning system activated due to these operations. However, in this instance, no drone interceptions were reported.

In a separate incident on August 8, one drone was intercepted over the Tula region, while three drones were intercepted over the Kursk region. Six drones were intercepted over the Orel region, and one drone was intercepted over the Azov Sea.

In the city of Anapa, air defense operations took place, but no new drone interceptions were reported. A total of 13 drones were intercepted over Russian regions in these incidents.

Between 09:45 and 11:15 Moscow time on an unspecified date, Russian air defense forces shot down two Ukrainian drones over the Krasnodar region.

Temporary restrictions were imposed on accepting and releasing aircraft at Gelendzhik Airport due to these incidents. The details of the drone interceptions at Gelendzhik Airport were not specified in the reports.

These drone strikes continue to occur frequently across southern and central Russian regions, with the Krasnodar Territory being one of the regions affected. The Russian authorities are vigilantly responding to these incidents to ensure the safety and security of the country.

  1. The frequent drone strikes, such as the one over the Krasnodar Territory, have raised general-news concerns about political tensions between Russia and Ukraine.
  2. As the political landscape remains volatile, continued drone interceptions over Russian regions, like those recently reported in Krasnodar, Tambov, Belgorod, Rostov, Crimea, and the Azov and Black Seas, are a matter of general-news interest.
