In a recent development, two Russian military jets flew over the Polish oil platform, Orlen Petrobaltic, located in the Polish economic zone of the Baltic Sea, 70 km north of Jastarnia. The incident occurred after a similar event in Estonia's airspace, involving three MiG-31 jets.

The Polish drilling platform, Petrobaltic, is operated by the Polish state-owned oil and gas company, Orlen. The Russian jets performed a low-altitude pass over the Petrobaltic platform, violating the safety zone established above the platform.

NATO swiftly responded to the incidents in both countries. In Poland, the Polish armed forces and other services were notified, while in Estonia, Italian air force jets intercepted the Russian aircraft involved.

However, it is important to note that neither incident involved a violation of either Poland or Estonia's state borders. The Polish government has not yet issued a formal statement regarding the incident with the Russian jets.

This is not the first time such incidents have occurred in the region. In recent years, tensions between NATO and Russia have been on the rise, particularly in the Baltic Sea region. These incidents serve as reminders of the importance of maintaining open communication and adherence to international norms and laws.

As the situation continues to develop, it is crucial for all parties involved to prioritise peace and mutual understanding to ensure the safety and security of all nations in the region.
