Military aircraft crashes in South Korea, causing devastation.

A South Korean military patrol aircraft has crashed on a mountainside near Pohang, resulting in the death of all four crew members. The P-3CK aircraft was conducting landing and takeoff training after departing from an airbase in Pohang on May 29, 2025.

The accident occurred at approximately 1:49 p.m. local time. Witnesses reported seeing large clouds of smoke near the crash site. The South Korea's official news agency Yonhap stated that the precise cause of the crash remains unknown, and the Navy is conducting an investigation to determine the cause.

In response to the incident, the Navy has grounded all P-3 maritime patrol aircraft pending further investigation. The identities of the deceased crew members have not been confirmed yet.

South Korea experienced a severe plane crash in December, as a Boeing 737-800 operated by the Korean airline Jeju Air crashed after landing at Muan Airport. The crash resulted in 179 passenger fatalities, with two crew members surviving. Investigations into the cause are still ongoing.
