Quadcopter Attack on FC Checkpost in Bannu, Pakistan

A quadcopter drone attack on a Frontier Constabulary (FC) checkpost in Bannu, Pakistan, resulted in casualties among security personnel and the intensification of counter-terror operations. The incident occurred in the early hours of August 8, 2025, in the Takhti Khel Bakakhel area.

The attack was carried out by terrorists, most likely from a banned militant group active in the region. They used a drone loaded with explosives to assault the checkpost, resulting in the martyrdom of Sepoy Meenakhyan and injuries to three others—Lance Naik Syedullah Jan, Noor Muhammad, and Nooruddin. The injured were promptly hospitalized.

Following the attack, FC and KP Police cordoned off the area and launched a coordinated, large-scale joint search and targeted operation in Huweid, Wazirabad, and the Havid area of Bannu. During these operations, three terrorist hideouts were destroyed, and seven alleged facilitators of a banned outfit were arrested.

Several vehicles used in terrorist activities, including a Zaranj vehicle and two motorcycles, were seized. An indefinite curfew was imposed in the Havid area, ordering residents to remain indoors from 5 a.m. onwards with strict warnings against assisting militants.

The operations were commanded by senior officials such as the District Police Officer (DPO) Saleem Abbas Kulachi and the DIG Bannu Region. The Bannu police and the Pakistan Army will continue operations in complete coordination until terrorism is eradicated.

This attack highlights the growing use of drone technology by militants in the region as a serious security threat. To counter this innovation, KP police recently acquired an advanced anti-drone system designed to detect and neutralize unauthorized drones remotely for protecting key government targets and public events.

The DPO emphasized that public cooperation is key to the success of the mission to eliminate terrorism. Joint patrols are currently ongoing in Huweid Bazaar and surrounding areas to maintain the security environment. The DPO also appealed to the public to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or relevant security agency.

The aim of the operation was to restore peace and eliminate terrorist elements from the region. No new injuries or martyrdoms were reported in this specific operation. The operation was carried out on the directives of the DIG Bannu Region with support from intelligence agencies.
