Miley Cyrus's Clever Cover-Up: Hiding Drug Spending Disguised as Vintage Clothes
Miley Cyrus' discretion in concealing her substance use.
The pop sensation, Miley Cyrus, has been candid about her past drug use and the way she concealed it from her accountant during her career. In an eye-opening podcast episode, she revealed her creative method of masking these expenses on "Every Single Album."
"My drug bills were the biggest costs. To keep them hidden from my accountant, we labeled them as 'designer clothes,'" Cyrus explained. This tricky approach helped her receive her paychecks. "That's pretty common on tours," she added.
However, Cyrus's accountant wasn't so easily fooled. "Whenever I saw her, she'd inquire about that $15,000 original John Lennon T-shirt she bought. I'd dodge the question, using excuses like it being upstairs or requiring special care," Cyrus reminisced.
"I Needed to Tumble Again"
Times have changed for Miley Cyrus. "I'm thrilled I survived that era of my life. I wouldn't urge anyone to follow my path, but the fact that I made it through brings me immense happiness," she said in the interview.
In 2017, Cyrus bid farewell to cannabis, and in 2020, she left behind alcohol after a brief relapse during the COVID-19 pandemic. During a chat with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, she reflected, "I knew I had to stumble again. I simply had to. It wouldn't have happened otherwise. I wouldn't be here now."
Today, the performer feels rejuvenated. "I've discovered that sobriety is like my divine force. I need it, I live for it. It's transformed my existence," said the former Disney darling.
