Miley Cyrus collaborates with Mick Fleetwood and Lindsey Buckingham on a fresh and enchanting single titled 'Secrets'
Miley Cyrus has collaborated with Mick Fleetwood and Lindsey Buckingham on her latest single, 'Secrets'. The song, which appears on the deluxe edition of Cyrus' ninth and latest album, 'Something Beautiful', features a Fleetwood Mac-esque instrumental provided by the band's former members.
The collaboration between Cyrus and the legendary rock band members was announced last month, when Billy Ray Cyrus shared a snippet of his daughter's new track on social media. The song, which was written as a peace offering for someone Cyrus had lost for a time but always loved, has been well-received by fans and critics alike.
NME gave the original edition of Miley Cyrus' album 'Something Beautiful' a four-star review, praising the pop star's ability to blend genres and create a unique sound. The music for 'Secrets' was produced by Cyrus herself and Frank Dukes, with Lindsey Buckingham delivering one of his signature guitar solos towards the end of the single.
Buckingham's return to Fleetwood Mac has been a topic of interest among fans, as he was fired from the band in 2018 and replaced by Mike Campbell and Neil Finn. However, in March, Fleetwood Mac's former members were pictured together in the studio, fuelling speculation that Buckingham may be rejoining the band. Buckingham himself has expressed his willingness to rejoin Fleetwood Mac 'in a heartbeat'.
Stevie Nicks, another iconic member of Fleetwood Mac, has also been involved in Cyrus' recent work. In 2020, the two collaborated on the single 'Edge of Midnight (Midnight Sky Remix)'. Nicks has stated that there is no chance of Fleetwood Mac reforming without the late Christine McVie, who passed away in 2018.
Cyrus' lyrics on 'Secrets' seem to reference classic songs by McVie and Nicks, as she sings about wanting to be the one and go anywhere you run. Billy Ray Cyrus addressed his estrangement from Miley last year, but it seems that the two have put their differences aside for this collaborative effort.
