Christmas Day in Bavaria Brings Mild, Rainy Weather
Skip the sled and snowman this year in Bavaria, Germany, as Christmas Day will bring a gray and damp outlook. On December 25, the German Weather Service (DWD) predicts a cloudy, rain-soaked Bavaria. With the snow line hovering between 2200 and 2500 meters, only the Alpine foothills will escape the showers with "more sun than clouds."
Although storm depression "Zoltan" has moved on, stormy weather still prevails, particularly in the mountainous regions. The Bavarian Forest and Alpine peaks are expected to experience gale-force winds above 110 kilometers per hour on this festive day. Thankfully, lowland winds will subside as the day progresses.
Looking ahead to the week following Christmas, temperatures will remain mild. The DWD forecasts highs of 7 to 12 degrees Celsius for December 26. Southern Bavaria will enjoy a dry and partly sunny spell, while northern regions brace for rain, according to the DWD report.
The Flood Information Service (HND) continues to monitor northern Bavaria due to the persistent rainfall, warning of a tense situation.
