Milan Bids Farewell to Coach Conceicao
AC Milan's journey with Sergio Conceicao will not continue beyond the current season, the club announced on their official website. The former Inter Milan and Lazio player had been contracted until the end of the next season, but speculation about his departure has been rampant.
Italy's media axis on Massimiliano Allegri as the potential new head coach for the Rossoneri. Allegri, 57, led Milan to the 2011 Serie A scudetto in his initial tenure with the team. He also racked up five more Italian league titles in two spells at Juventus.
Conceicao replaced sacked compatriot Paulo Fonseca at Milan and initially helped the team win the Italian Super Cup. However, his tenure culminated in a 1-0 Italian cup final defeat to Bologna on May 14. Under his guidance, Milan won 16 of 31 games, earning 11 victories, seven losses, and three draws in the league. The season ended with the team finishing in eighth place.
A damning assessment of the season came from defender Matteo Gabbia, who reportedly described the season as "quite simply a bad one." Gabbia acknowledged that the team had not met its potential, especially considering the abundance of talent within the squad.
Allegri's return to AC Milan as the new head coach is imminent, according to reports. He has signed a deal for a period of two to three years. This move marks his return to Milan after an eleven-year absence since his departure from Juventus.
