Mike Patton re-emerges with new venture AVTT/PTTN, collaborating with folk rock sensations the Avett Brothers

Mike Patton, the frontman of Faith No More and Mr. Bungle, has teamed up with folk-rock stars The Avett Brothers under the band name AVTT/PTTN. The self-titled debut album is set to be released on November 14, 2023, via Thirty Tigers, Ramseur Records, and Ipecac Recordings.

The album was recorded remotely before Patton and The Avett Brothers had met in real life. Patton describes his role in AVTT/PTTN as becoming a long-distant cousin or a brother that was orphaned. Scott Avett, a member of The Avett Brothers, states that making art should be done in secret and with no ambition.

The self-titled album by AVTT/PTTN features 9 songs, each with unique titles. The tracklist includes Dark Night of My Soul, To Be Known, Heaven's Breath, Too Awesome, Disappearing, Eternal Love, The Ox Driver's Song, The Things I Do, and Received.

Eternal Love, the debut single from the album, is a country ballad that features a keyboard solo sounding like it was beamed from outer space. The song is out now.

Patton, along with Scott Avett and Dana Nielsen, who has worked with Rick Rubin on several projects, produced the album. The self-titled album by AVTT/PTTN is available for pre-order now.

In the past, Nielsen has worked on recordings by various artists including Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, System Of A Down, Rihanna, and others.

Scott Avett's contributions to the album are not limited to music. He also co-wrote the lyrics for most of the songs on the album. The album's themes revolve around love, loss, and the human condition.

The self-titled album by AVTT/PTTN is a testament to the power of collaboration and the beauty that can be created when different musical worlds collide. Fans of both Patton and The Avett Brothers are eagerly awaiting the release of this unique and intriguing album.
