Migrants Held in Captivity by BPOLI LUD
In the small town of Goerlitz, Germany, an unexpected event unfolded last Sunday when ten migrants were taken into custody by the Federal Police. The arrests occurred in Deschka, a neighbourhood within Goerlitz, following an investigation that uncovered an alleged case of human smuggling.
Initially, two Moroccans (20 and 24 years old) and two Somalis (14 and 25 years old) were detected, having crossed the border via the pedestrian and bicycle bridge in Deschka. Further investigation led to the discovery of an Ethiopian woman and two Eritrean women, both aged 25, and four Eritrean men, aged 25, 27, 31, and 30.
The 30-year-old Eritrean suspect is suspected to be directly involved in the illegal entry of the six apprehended individuals. He resides in Cottbus, Germany, and holds a German residence title. The suspect is currently being questioned by authorities.
In an unfortunate turn of events, a minor from the initial group was handed over to the Goerlitz youth welfare office. Three adults from the group were rejected back to Poland later that afternoon. The six allegedly smuggled individuals face rejection to Poland as well.
The suspect accused of facilitating this illegal entry is also an Eritrean national. He is currently under investigation for the suspected act of smuggling. The contact information for further inquiries is provided: Federal Police Inspectorate Ludwigsdorf Press Spokesperson Michael Engler, telephone: 0 35 81 - 3626-6110, email: [email protected], website: www.bundespolizei.de.
On the same evening, officers at the Goerlitz train station noticed an African woman and man, along with two more African individuals on the platform. A patrol outside the station encountered three African men running on the Sattigstraße.
This incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat illegal immigration and human smuggling, and the commitment of the German authorities to ensure the safety and security of its citizens.
