Midtown's New Cultural Alliance Unites Five Global Institutions for Spring 2026

A new cultural partnership is putting Midtown Manhattan in the spotlight. The Midtown Cultural Alliance (MCA) launched in September 2025 to showcase the area as a global arts and culture hub. Five leading institutions have joined forces to offer a diverse programme of events, from film screenings to language workshops and culinary experiences.

The alliance brings together Japan Society, The Korea Society, Korean Cultural Center New York, L'Alliance New York, and Scandinavia House. Their first major collaboration, the Spring 2026 Open House, runs from Thursday, March 26 to Sunday, April 5. Visitors can explore free and ticketed events across all five venues.

Japan Society will host a Meiko Kaji film retrospective alongside *The Good Traitor* screening. Language enthusiasts can attend Japanese workshops there or Hangeul Help sessions at The Korea Society. Nearby, the Korean Cultural Center New York features the world's largest Hangeul Wall, created by artist Ik-Joong Kang. Scandinavia House offers art and knitting workshops, while its Björk Cafe & Bistro serves Nordic dishes and drinks. L'Alliance New York rounds out the programme with a French book fair on April 4. Live music, talks, and exhibitions will also take place throughout the ten-day event.

The Open House highlights Midtown's rich cultural diversity through a mix of free and paid activities. Each organisation contributes unique programming, from language lessons to film and food. The event aims to draw both locals and visitors to explore the area's international cultural scene.
