Marco Richter, a 27-year-old German forward, has joined SV Darmstadt 98 on loan from Mainz 05. A native of Friedberg, Hesse, Richter will be deployed in midfield for the Lilies and will wear the number 23 jersey.

Richter's professional career began at FC Augsburg, where he made his senior debut in 2017 after impressing in their second team. He played 104 matches for Augsburg, scoring 13 goals and providing 12 assists. In 2021, he transferred to Hertha BSC for around 7 million euros, playing 62 games, scoring 14 goals, and assisting 6, but struggled with consistency.

In 2024-2025, Richter moved to FSV Mainz 05 for about 3 million euros. At Mainz, he appeared 21 times, scoring 2 goals and adding 3 assists. During the previous season, he was loaned out to Hamburger SV, where he featured in 27 matches and contributed 1 goal and 2 assists.

However, as of the latest data (August 2025), there is no verified record of Richter joining Darmstadt Lilies. The latest information is that Mainz loaned him to Hamburger SV, and there were talks involving Hajduk Split and other clubs, but no confirmed transfer to Darmstadt.

The Lilies, who will face VFL Bochum in the season opener, have a new team captain. Marcel Schuhen has been appointed as the new team captain of the Lilies, an announcement made on Saturday (26.07). Richter, excited about his new challenge with the Lilies, stated he likes their style of play and believes it suits his own.

The Lilies have also unveiled their new away jersey. The new away jersey of the Lilies is predominantly white with some blue, featuring the lily symbol. The identity of the Lilies' new team captain was not specified in the previous bullet points.

During their training camp in Bad Woerishofen, SV Darmstadt 98 won two matches. They defeated St. Gallen 4:2 and won 9:0 against Weiler.
