Midfielder Marco Richter temporary transferred to Lilies on loan terms.
Marco Richter Joins SV Darmstadt 98 on Loan
Marco Richter, a native of Hesse, has joined SV Darmstadt 98 on loan from Mainz 05 for the new season. The midfielder began his professional career at 1. FC Augsburg, where he progressed from the second team to debut for the senior side in 2017.
Richter's career has seen him move between several clubs, including a stint at Hertha BSC and a loan period with HSV last season. His latest move marks a new chapter in his ongoing career development.
The Lilies have unveiled Richter's new jersey, which features lots of white, a bit of blue, and the lily symbol. Richter will wear the number 23 jersey and will be deployed in midfield for the team. However, it is not yet clear whether he will be directly deployed in the season opener against VFL Bochum on Saturday.
In addition to the new signing, the Lilies have also announced Marcel Schuhen as the new team captain. Schuhen has been a mainstay at the club, starting his professional career at 1. FC Augsburg before joining the Lilies. No information about Schuhen's role or captaincy in the training matches was provided.
The training camp, which took place in Bad Woerishofen, has been a success for the Lilies so far. They have won both of their practice matches, defeating St. Gallen 4:2 and Weiler with a score of 9:0. The club made the announcement of Schuhen as the new captain on Saturday (26.07).
Richter's move to Darmstadt is a significant one, as he looks to regain his form and consistency after a challenging spell at Hertha BSC. With the new season approaching, fans of the Lilies will be eager to see what Richter can bring to the team.
