Mick Schumacher's F1 Future Uncertain as Cadillac Picks Bottas and Perez
Mick Schumacher, son of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher, has scored 12 World Championship points in 43 Grand Prix races. Dropped by Haas over two years ago, he has been seeking a new Formula 1 seat. Meanwhile, Cadillac is set to join the grid in 2026, and Mick could be a candidate for their driver lineup.
Cadillac team principal Graeme Lowden has been in talks with around seven or eight drivers, including promising younger drivers with experience. Mick Schumacher was considered for the two cockpit seats alongside experienced Grand Prix winners Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez. However, the team ultimately chose Bottas and Perez for their first season.
Cadillac aims to have a US driver in the future and has named IndyCar driver Colton Herta as their test driver. Herta is working to acquire the necessary F1 license points to compete later. Rumors suggest that Christian Horner could be a key figure behind the scenes at Cadillac.
Mick Schumacher's Formula 1 career has not yet lived up to the high expectations set by his father's legendary status. Despite being considered for Cadillac's 2026 lineup, he was not chosen. Schumacher continues his search for a new team, while Cadillac prepares for their debut season with an eye on the future.
