Michael Siani's MLB struggles continue as Dodgers demote him to Triple-A

Michael Siani, once a promising outfielder for the Cardinals, has been optioned to Triple-A by the Dodgers. The move comes after a turbulent offseason that saw him switch teams multiple times. Despite his defensive strengths, his offensive struggles have kept him off major league rosters.

Siani began 2024 with the Cardinals but lost his starting role to Victor Scott II, who proved stronger in defence and on the basepaths. Though Siani contributed 16 Outs Above Average and stole 20 bases that season, his batting average remained weak at .228, with a 64 wRC+ in extended play. His offensive profile, often compared to Billy Hamilton's, has limited his opportunities.

Over the winter, Siani moved between five organisations—the Cardinals, Braves, Dodgers, Yankees, and then back to the Dodgers. Despite these changes, he was left off the Opening Day roster in 2026. The Dodgers have now sent him to the minors to refine his plate approach, though he remains on their 40-man roster. Cardinals fans are unlikely to see him return this season, as the team has fully committed to Scott II as their starting centre fielder.

Siani's future in the majors depends on improving his hitting. His defensive skills and speed keep him in contention, but another strong minor-league showing may be needed. For now, his role remains in Triple-A, with a potential call-up later in the season.
