Miami Marlins secure 6-5 victory over Colorado Rockies, marking their 110th loss of the season for the Rockies.
The Miami Marlins continued their impressive form, securing a 6-5 victory over the Colorado Rockies in a thrilling game on Tuesday evening.
Ryan Weathers (2-1, 2.73 ERA) started for the Marlins, facing Colorado's McCade Brown (0-4, 9.88). The game was delayed for an hour due to rain in the sixth inning, but the weather didn't dampen the spirits of the players or the fans.
The Marlins got off to a strong start, with Javier Sanoja driving in two runs in the third inning. Dane Myers and Jakob Marsee each contributed two RBIs of their own, with Marsee's coming in the same inning as Sanoja's. Agustin Ramirez also scored a run, driven in by Marsee. Javier Sanoja, Heriberto Hernandez, and Eric Wagaman each had two hits for the Marlins.
However, the Rockies fought back in the eighth inning. Mickey Moniak hit a three-run home run to narrow the gap, but the Marlins held on to their lead. Brenton Doyle scored a run for the Rockies in the ninth inning, and Yanquiel Fernandez hit a sacrifice fly, but it wasn't enough to prevent the Marlins from securing the win.
The Marlins' bullpen shone, with relievers not allowing an earned run in 25 innings prior to Moniak's homer. Ronny Henriquez pitched 1 1/3 innings for his seventh save for the Marlins.
The Rockies' Kyle Freeland (4-16) was chased from the game in the sixth inning. Eury Perez pitched five scoreless innings for the Marlins, had six strikeouts, and gave up a hit and no walks.
The win marks the Marlins' fifth win in their last six games, cementing their position as a team to watch in the league. The Marlins' starter Ryan Weathers is scheduled to start against Colorado's McCade Brown on Wednesday. Joey Wiemer scored on a sacrifice fly by Otto Lopez for the Rockies.
This exciting game was a testament to the skill and determination of both teams, and the Marlins will look to carry this momentum into their next game.
