Mexico's Ivan Aguilar secures the country's initial gold medal at the Junior Pan American Games, showing off his cycling skills.

The II Junior Pan American Games Asuncion, currently being hosted by Paraguay, reached its penultimate day on Saturday, August 23. Among the numerous events, the Men's Cross-Country mountain biking competition saw a thrilling conclusion as Mexico's Ivan Aguilar Villegas clinched the gold medal.

Aguilar Villegas, who recently won the Vuelta a Burgos, demonstrated his outstanding form and determination in the gruelling race. He crossed the finish line in 1:16:53, securing his place atop the podium.

Argentina and Brazil completed the podium, with Eiki Yamauchi from Brazil finishing second in 1:17:58 and Nicolás Reynoso from Argentina rounding off the top three with a time of 1:17:42.

The Mexican Olympic Committee and the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (Conade) congratulated Aguilar Villegas on his impressive victory. The Mexican Olympic Committee wrote on social media, "National pride on wheels!" as they celebrated the achievement.
