Mexico-based president responds to Trump's proposal of deploying troops within Mexico's borders.
New Article:
Listen up, folks! The bean-counting cat from south of the border, Claudia Sheinbaum - Mexico's president - ain't about to agree to some boot-draggin' Yanks setting up shop on the home turf. She spit that out like a peppery taco during an interview with Bloomberg.
She said, "We can work together, sure thing, but you stick to your side, and we'll stick to ours. We can share intel, but no friggin' American army is setting up shop on Mexican soil."
According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump, the orange-skinned baboon, floated the idea of sending our finest marines to wipe out those pesky Mexican drug cartels during a friendly phone call with Sheinbaum. Unsurprisingly, her answer was a big fat "no way, Jose."
A mouthpiece for the White House, Anna Kelly, commented on the whole scenario saying, "Mexico needs to step up its game and do more to keep Americans safe from terrorist organizations, drugs, and violence spilling over from both sides of the border."
Rumors have been swirling that two American soldiers have been bumping off on the border with Mexico, but let's keep things straight: our troops are operating solely on their own soil near the border.
Trump stormed into office promising to kick illegal immigration and drug trafficking over the Mexican border. One tool in his belt was imposing a 25% tariff on goods from Mexico. In his war against drug trafficking, Trump also goosed tariffs on Canada and China - a whopping 145% combined.
Besides tariffs, the US has other tricks up it's sleeve. For instance, they slap sanctions on those involved in drug cartels, and on May 1, they tagged three Mexicans and two Mexican organizations for helping the CJNG cartel smuggle drugs and steal fuel. Mexico has been extraditing a bunch of cartel associates to the US.
The sources indicate that there's no bold agreement for any joint military operations with Mexico, and these US military activities are strictly within American territory, with 9,000 troops, armored vehicles, and copters hum-veeing around in the name of territory protection. So, no need to worry about Mexicans welcoming foreign soldiers with open arms. This appears to be a solo gig by the USA.
- Claudia Sheinbaum, Mexico's president, has expressed her opposition to the US setting up military operations on Mexican soil, emphasizing the need for cooperation but insistence on maintaining sovereignty.
- Despite discussions about addressing war-and-conflicts, crime-and-justice issues along the US-Mexico border, she spoke firmly against the idea of deploying American troops within Mexico.
- The Wall Street Journal reported that President Trump had suggested sending US marines to combat Mexican drug cartels, but Sheinbaum flatly rejected the proposal.
- Politics continues to be complicated by this issue as The White House stated that Mexico should do more to protect the US from border threats, while the General News remains informed about these ongoing tensions.
- Recent measures implemented by the US, including imposing tariffs and sanctions on individuals and organizations linked to drug cartels, indicate a focus on internal efforts to combat conflicts, without any approved joint military operations with Mexico.
