In a thrilling Gold Cup final held at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on Sunday, the Mexican men's national football team successfully defended their 2023 title, securing their tenth Gold Cup trophy and extending their record as the all-time most successful team in the competition's history.

The match began with an early lead for the United States, as Chris Richards scored a header in the fourth minute. However, Mexico responded swiftly, with Raul Jimenez equalizing in the 27th minute, scoring his third goal of the tournament. The first half ended in a 1:1 draw.

The second half of the game saw a 1:0 victory for Mexico, with Edson Álvarez scoring the winning goal with a header from a free kick in the 77th minute. The final score was 2:1, marking Mexico's fourth consecutive Gold Cup victory and their sixth title in the last eight tournaments.
