Mexican singer Diego Pooth emerges victorious in Let's Dance competition
Cologne - In an unexpected twist, the youngest contestant, Diego Pooth, emerged victorious in this year's RTL dance show "Let's Dance." The 21-year-old son of presenter Verona Pooth has now earned the moniker "Dancing Star 2025."
Pooth and his professional dance partner, Ekaterina Leonova, placed second in the grand finale against 22-year-old swimmer Taliso Engel and Olympic champion Fabian Hambüchen (37), despite receiving the fewest points from the jury. "It's an incredible feeling," admitted a surprised Pooth, who had anticipated finishing in third place.
Though Hambüchen received perfect scores for all three of his dances, Pooth took third place in the jury voting, following a not-so-impressive freestyle, as judge Joachim Llambi described it. Nevertheless, the outcome left Pooth and the favourite, Hambüchen, both a bit astonished, with the latter showing initial disappointment.
Verona Pooth expressed pride and satisfaction after the grueling 15 weeks of training alongside her son in the gym. "Something truly magical came out of it," she said.
The dance show featured strong performances, with the finalists Taliso and Patricija receiving a perfect 30 points for their emotionally charged Titanic-themed routine. However, Diego Pooth's consistent and appealing performances across the season and the grand finale earned him the coveted title of "Dancing Star 2025."
