Meteorologists reported a chilly and wet May this year.
Get Away, It's Scorching Hot in Vitebsk, Minsk, and Gomel!
Brace yourselves, people! The weather's taking a turn for the worse (or should we say, better for sunbathers?) in the Vitebsk, Minsk, and Gomel regions of Belarus. Get ready to sweat this out!
May was a chilly month for these parts, with the average temperature a bone-chilling 4.2°C below normal. But hold onto your shorts because June is here to bake us all!
This second decade of the month will particularly serve you a piping hot serving of 31°C. Yep, you heard it right! Your thermometers could be reading up to 31°C, so don't forget to lather on that sunscreen before stepping out.
Now, for those who are buzzing with excitement at the thought of baking under the sun, remember that frosts still pay a visit to Belarus during May. So, it's never a bad idea to keep a light sweater handy in your bag.
Rainfall is another story, with around 100mm of precipitation recorded in May, which was 158% of the climatic norm. The good news is that most of the country received rainfall, with some regions in the central and northern parts even receiving an astounding 230-290% of the average. So, you might as well brush up on your rain dance!
Minsk, the capital city, is predicted to hit a scorching 24°C with partly cloudy conditions. Sounds like the perfect weather to grab a refreshing drink and unwind, right?
Wind speed will likely be around 19.4 kmph coming from the WSW direction, so expect a slight breeze to relieve the scorching heat. Meanwhile, over in the Gomel region, temperatures will be clocking around 28°C with sunny conditions. A perfect day for a picnic, if you ask us.
Just don't forget to keep an eye on the skies, as there's a possibility of severe thunderstorms brewing. So, pump up the musical chairs, folks—this summer's going to be wild!
As for alerts, nothing specific has been shared for these regions as of now. But, remember what happened on June 3, when the Gomel region was hit by a severe storm, causing significant damage with wind gusts of up to 20m/s? Let's hope we don't see a repeat of that this month!
Hope this sizzling half of the month is treating you well, and remember to stay safe and cool!
