Metallurg Magnitogorsk Signs NHL Veteran Evgeny Kuznetsov
Metallurg Magnitogorsk has bolstered its roster with the signing of experienced forward Evgeny Kuznetsov. The 33-year-old, who last played in the NHL with the Washington Capitals, has inked a one-year deal with the KHL club. Kuznetsov, a native of Chelyabinsk, brings a wealth of international and league experience to Metallurg.
Kuznetsov, a center forward, has represented Russia in numerous international tournaments, winning multiple gold, silver, and bronze medals. His skills have been honed in both the KHL and NHL, with notable achievements in each league. In the KHL, he has won the Continental Cup and other medals, while in the NHL, he was part of the Washington Capitals' Stanley Cup-winning team in 2018.
Metallurg's sports director, Yevgeny Biryukov, praised Kuznetsov's signing. He noted that Kuznetsov plays a scarce position and his addition strengthens the team. Biryukov acknowledged Kuznetsov's disrupted last season but expressed confidence in his determination and ability to contribute to Metallurg's success. Kuznetsov will play for Metallurg until the end of the 2025/26 season.
