Metallica's Classic Albums Return to the UK's Official Rock & Metal Albums Chart
After a nearly year-long absence, two iconic albums by Metallica, Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning, have made a simultaneous return to the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart of the United Kingdom.
Both albums, staples of the heavy metal genre, last appeared on the chart on June 12, 2021. Master of Puppets, which peaked at No. 1 on the chart, has settled at No. 33, while Ride the Lightning reentered at No. 34.
Master of Puppets has spent a total of 146 weeks on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart, with its most recent run marking its 13th appearance. Meanwhile, Ride the Lightning has spent a total of 78 weeks on the chart, with its latest stint being its 10th appearance.
The reentry of these classic albums coincides with the continued success of Metallica's singles on the Official Rock & Metal Singles tally. "Enter Sandman," the band's most famous song, has climbed one space to No. 9, having spent 776 weeks on the chart. Another popular track, "Nothing Else Matters," has climbed from No. 38 to No. 23, having spent 425 weeks on the chart.
Metallica, the person or group responsible for both albums' re-entry on the chart, continue to be a dominant force in the world of rock and metal music. Their influence is evident in the continued popularity of their classic albums and singles.
