Sepultura's Farewell Tour Kicks Off at Dark Sun Metal Festival in Istanbul

Sepultura, the legendary Brazilian metal band, marked the beginning of their 40th-anniversary farewell tour at the Dark Sun Metal Festival in Istanbul. The tour, titled "Celebrating Life Through Death," is a global trek that honours four decades of the band’s music and legacy.

The Dark Sun Metal Festival, held at the popular concert venue KucukCiftlik Park in Istanbul, brought together international and local metal acts. The event opened with a performance by the Turkish metal band Helak, followed by sets from Radical Noise, a well-known name in the local hardcore and punk scene, and the Turkish symphonic metal group Knight Errant.

During their set, Sepultura performed some of their most iconic songs, including "Territory," "Roots Bloody Roots," and "Refuse/Resist." The band's lineup for this tour includes vocalist Derrick Green, guitarist Andreas Kisser, bassist Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr., and drummer Eloy Casagrande.

As part of the tour, Sepultura plans to record 40 live tracks in 40 different cities, with the intention of releasing a compilation album featuring these energetic live performances. This project serves as a tribute to their fans and the 40 years of loyalty from their fanbase. Although the exact setlist details for individual shows are not fully disclosed, it is implied that the performances will feature their best and most iconic songs representing their rich history.

The Dark Sun Metal Festival in Istanbul also saw performances from Danish artist Myrkur and the Dutch symphonic metal group Epica, who closed the festival with a powerful set that included "Cross the Divide," "Sensorium," and "Cry for the Moon."

The concert took a moment of respect for the late rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away earlier this year. The Dark Sun Metal Festival in Istanbul marked the 40th anniversary of Sepultura with a farewell tour, and the event was a testament to the band's enduring influence and the passion of their fans.

The tour began in Brazil and includes dates across Latin America, the US, and other locations worldwide, with additional concerts expected to be announced soon. The Latin American leg took place from March 11 to 30, 2025, featuring stops at major festivals such as Lollapalooza in Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Santiago, and São Paulo, along with exclusive shows in Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Paraguay, and other countries. The band also played concerts in Georgia as part of the tour in July 2025, with a special performance in Batumi on July 30, 2025.
