Metal band Megadeth plans to release their final album in 2026
Megadeth, a legendary American metal band, has announced that they will be embarking on a farewell tour next year, marking the end of their iconic career. Dave Mustaine, the band's frontman, made the announcement through a message delivered by their mascot, Vic Rattlehead. In the message, Mustaine expressed gratitude for their long career and their fanbase, marking this farewell as a celebration of their musical revolution and influence.
The final album will be released via Dave Mustaine's Tradecraft imprint, in partnership with Frontiers Label Group's BLKIIBLK label. The current lineup for this last chapter includes Mustaine on vocals and guitar, Teemu Mäntysaari on guitar, James LoMenzo on bass, and Dirk Verbeuren on drums.
Official tour dates have not been disclosed yet, but are expected to be announced in 2026 alongside the album release. This announcement marks the end of an era for Megadeth, a pivotal band in the metal scene for decades.
Megadeth was formed over 40 years ago and has released 16 studio albums so far. The band is part of the Big Four of American thrash metal, along with Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax.
