University of Wisconsin-Green Bay's Men's Basketball Pursues NCAA Waiver for Million-Dollar Tournament

Green Bay, WI — The Phoenix men's basketball team has made a plea to the NCAA for a waiver to compete in "The Basketball Tournament" (TBT), a competition offering a seven-figure prize this summer.

Typically, TBT consists of well-recognized alumni teams from colleges or active professional players. The Phoenix contend that this tournament acts as a replacement for an overseas trip, allowing collegiate teams to play against professional teams overseas once every four years.

Last spring, UWGB brought on radio host Doug Gottlieb to their coaching staff. Unfortunately, the team ended the season with a record of 4 wins and 28 losses.

The team will also be participating in the 2025 Paradise Jam, an eight-team tournament featuring Akron, the College of Charleston, and others. Each team plays three games in the competition [1].

For further details on the team's participation in other tournaments or NCAA waivers, interested readers can visit the official university athletics website or contact the athletic department directly [2].

University of Wisconsin-Green Bay's Men's Basketball is eyeing a chance to compete in NCAA-Basketball, the Basketball Tournament (TBT) specifically, which offers a significant prize this summer. This tournament, they argue, will serve as a replacement for an overseas trip, providing an opportunity for collegiate teams to face professional teams, typically found overseas once every four years.
