Membership on the left has nearly doubled to reach a total of 120,000 individuals.
In the lead-up to Germany's upcoming elections, several political parties have reported significant growth in their membership numbers.
The Greens party, according to reports by 'FAZ', currently boasts around 170,000 members, an increase of over 40,000 since the end of the coalition government. This surge in support is a clear indication of the party's growing popularity.
The Left party, on the other hand, has seen an impressive doubling of its members. As stated by their leader, Ines Schwerdtner, the way they do politics and speak to people is resonating with the public. At present, the Left party has approximately 120,000 members.
The AfD party, known for its opposition stance, has also experienced a membership boost. The party now has about 70,000 members, more than double its numbers two years ago. This growth is happening in opposition to other parties, as reported by the party spokesman.
The 'Sahra Wagenknecht' alliance, too, has seen an increase in membership. According to reports by both 'FAZ' and the alliance itself, they have recently gained around 4,500 members.
It's worth noting that the average age in the Left party is 38.62 years, according to their figures. This suggests a relatively younger demographic compared to other parties.
These growing membership numbers not only reflect the parties' strength but also their readiness for the upcoming elections. The increased support is a clear indication of the changing political landscape in Germany.
