Members of the Denver Nuggets inner circle expressing concerns about the team's player roster as the 2025-26 season approaches.
The Denver Nuggets have been busy this offseason, making several moves to strengthen their roster for the upcoming season.
Bruce Brown, a 29-year-old guard, enters his second season with the Nuggets after spending the better part of the last two seasons being bounced around the league in trades. Brown hopes to find a role with the team in the 2025-26 season.
The Denver Nuggets' bench, excluding Valanciunas and Hardaway Jr., leaves a lot to be desired. However, the team has addressed this issue by acquiring Jonas Valanciunas from the Kings and Tim Hardaway Jr. from unspecified sources.
Valanciunas, a 33-year-old centre, will serve as the backup centre behind MVP Nikola Jokic for the Nuggets. The terms of his contract were not specified, but he is expected to provide much-needed depth to the team's frontcourt.
Hardaway Jr., also 33, will be the team's backup shooting guard in the 2025-26 season. He made 77 starts for the Pistons last season, averaging 11.0 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. Hardaway Jr. signed a one-year, $3.6 million deal with the Nuggets.
In another notable move, the Nuggets traded Michael Porter Jr. to the Nets for Cam Johnson. This trade will save the Nuggets $38.3M next season due to Porter Jr.'s salary. Johnson's role on the team is yet to be determined.
The Nuggets also made a change in their coaching staff, firing head coach Micahel Malone days before the 2025 playoffs. The team has since promoted assistant head coach David Adelman to head coach this offseason.
Adam Mares, a Nuggets' insider, emphasised the need for Denver to add depth ahead of the 2025-26 season. According to Mares, the bench in the 2025-26 season should be made up of Tim Hardaway Jr., Jonas Valanciunas, and Bruce Brown.
These moves are part of the Nuggets' strategy to improve their chances of contending for the NBA championship in the 2025-26 season. With a stronger roster and a new head coach, the team is poised for an exciting season ahead.
