In a recent incident, a car with a horse trailer caught fire on the A61 in FR Ludwigshafen, near the Im Weidenfeld rest area. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

The car, driven by a 35-year-old woman from the Freiburg area, managed to steer her vehicle onto the hard shoulder and safely remove her infant from the back seat before the fire spread.

The incident caused a significant traffic disruption, with a 5 km backup on the A61. The Ludwigshafen-bound lane was fully closed for approximately 45 minutes as emergency services worked to contain the fire and manage the traffic situation.

The Pellenz fire department, Mendig highway maintenance, Mendig highway police, and the local Police Highway Station Mendig responded to the incident. The Mendig highway police are also involved in the management of the incident.

The fire presumably originated from a technical malfunction in the engine compartment, and the car was completely destroyed in the fire. The horse was temporarily accommodated at a nearby stable.

The estimated property damage from the incident is in the high four-digit range. For further inquiries, the Traffic Management Department Koblenz can be contacted at 02652-97950. Their address is Laacher-See-Str. 15 d, 56743 Mendig.

The Traffic Management Department Koblenz is another point of contact for such incidents. In cases of heavy traffic, the police reminded drivers to form rescue corridors to ensure the safety of other road users and emergency services personnel.

It is worth noting that the search results do not provide information about the head of the traffic control center (Verkehrsleitstelle) in Koblenz involved in the fire incident on the A61 toward Ludwigshafen.

Despite the disruption, the incident was successfully managed, and the traffic flow was gradually restored. The authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire to prevent similar incidents in the future.
