Jasmin Wagner, the 90s techno sensation known as Blümchen, may be handing over her mic permanently. According to Bild newspaper, Blümchen is contemplating retirement. "Blümchen says farewell after 30 years," the publication reports.
As stated in the newspaper, the award-winning singer is considering stepping away from the spotlight and performing for her adoring fans one last time. "30 years of music, memories, and unforgettable moments — it's time for the boomerang to soar off into the horizon," she is quoted as saying. The singer adds, "My journey began in the 90s, bridged generations, and concludes with a grand farewell, brimming with love, gratitude, and emotions."
The singer is reportedly planning a "30th Anniversary" tour, spanning from May to November, with the final performance scheduled for November. The exact date and location remain secret. It is unconfirmed whether Wagner intends to leave the pop industry entirely or simply retire the Blümchen persona.
A Star is Born
Born in 1980 in Hamburg, Wagner rose to fame as Blümchen during the 90s. With her high-pitched voice, she recorded several techno tunes in the happy hardcore style. In 1995, she scored her first hit with "Herz an Herz," which was based on a Paso Doble song sample. Other chart successes followed, including "Kleiner Satellit (Piep, Piep)," "Boomerang," and "Nur geträumt," which borrowed from corresponding Nena songs.
At the turn of the millennium, Wagner decided to retire the Blümchen persona. Later, she released music under her given name and explored various other ventures, including acting in film and TV, hosting, and performing in theater and musicals.
In 2019, Wagner returned as Blümchen, performing at various 90s festivals with her timeless hits. Now, at 44, married, and a mother, she may want to focus on her private life.
