Meghan expresses her fondness for expressing care and discloses a disliked food of Harry in an awkward preview for their Netflix series
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has shared a new trailer for the second season of her Netflix show "With Love, Meghan". Set to release on August 26, the eight-part series promises a fun and heartwarming journey filled with holiday celebrations, crafting, and laughter.
The trailer features a host of famous guests, including Chrissy Teigen, Jamie Kern Lima, and Tan France. Meghan can be seen laughing and cooking with her celebrity friends, sharing insights into her life and passions. However, the show has received mixed reviews, with some viewers finding it delightful and authentic, while others consider it "cringe TV" or inauthentic.
Critics have labelled the show as "out of touch" and "inauthentic", contributing to perceptions that it fails to truly connect with a broad audience. The show's first season, which was roundly criticized by critics on both sides of the Atlantic, performed poorly in ratings compared to other Netflix projects involving Meghan and Prince Harry. Only about 526,000 households tuned in during the first 5 days, significantly fewer than the 2.1 million who watched "Harry & Meghan" in the same period.
Despite the criticism, Netflix’s CEO was impressed enough to approve a second season, which has sparked further backlash on social media. Many have expressed frustration, dismissing the show as uninteresting and questioning Netflix’s decision to continue investing in it. Specific criticism targeted guest choices and the show's premise, often mocking its tone and content as lacking substance.
The special will be filmed in Montecito and will feature friends and family, holiday feasts, and more. In addition to the new series, Meghan and Prince Harry will release a "Holiday Celebration" Christmas special and a short film called "Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within" about the HIV/AIDS crisis in Uganda's Masaka region.
Interestingly, the trailer shows Meghan Markle speaking about finding new ways to show people she cares, but her husband Prince Harry is conspicuously absent. Harry's vanity project, Polo, was watched by just 500,000 people, a far cry from the viewership of "With Love, Meghan".
Meghan's new deal with Netflix does not guarantee any commitment for future projects, but the couple's deal has been renewed for a multi-year period. The King will also feature in a documentary on The King's Foundation with Idris Elba.
