Mexico City, August 2025 - Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to visit Mexico in the first week of September. The visit is expected to focus on signing a new bilateral security agreement and exploring economic partnerships.

Sheinbaum Pardo stated that the security pact, based on principles of sovereignty, mutual trust, territorial respect, and coordination without subordination, is ready to be signed during Rubio's visit. This visit follows ongoing discussions to enhance cooperation between the two countries and occurs alongside Mexico hosting other high-level international delegations, such as one from Brazil.

The press conference, held at the National Palace on August 20, did not provide any specific details about the meeting between President Sheinbaum Pardo and Rubio. Similarly, no information about any other visitors or meetings besides those mentioned was given.

In addition to Rubio's visit, the Vice President of Brazil, Geraldo Alckmin, is scheduled to visit Mexico on August 27 and 28. Alckmin will be accompanied by a business delegation and other Brazilian ministers during his visit. Officials from Brazil will visit Mexico in the coming days to review cooperation and trade agreements.

The agreement between President Sheinbaum Pardo and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was made in July. However, the press conference did not provide any details about the agenda for Alckmin's visit.

President Sheinbaum Pardo also mentioned that secretaries of state from Brazil will visit Mexico next week. Furthermore, the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, and the Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, are scheduled to visit Mexico.

President Sheinbaum Pardo does not plan to leave Mexico before December. The security agreement for President Sheinbaum Pardo's meetings with foreign heads of state is being finalized.
