Meet the trailblazing Korean artist, Yoon Dain, who turns her body into an extraordinary canvas for her extraordinary masterpieces.

"I found it intriguing," Yoon shared with CNN from her fashionable abode in New York. However, people might find her unique style unsettling, given her fiery magenta tresses and her enigmatic garments adorned with striking human anatomy details. But in the bustling streets of the Big Apple, Yoon effortlessly blends in—and loves every bit of it.

Transforming into a mesmerizing 3D geometric creation, Yoon applies triangular shapes of light and dark hues in "In One of Yoon's Self-Portraits."

At 30, Yoon has reached remarkable heights in her career, with her most significant successes in Europe and the United States. Known for her signature skills in optical illusions and deception, Yoon first grabbed the world’s attention in 2016. Her groundbreaking work has drawn the attention of notable artists like Halsey and James Blake. Notable media appearances include "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," campaigns with Estée Lauder, BMW, Apple, and Adidas, and even gracing the pages of Vogue and Harper's Bazaar.[1]

"My process is honest and raw," Yoon emphasized. "Nothing is manipulated in post-production; it's just me, a mirror, a camera, and body painting sessions lasting up to twelve hours."[1] The labor-intensive process set Yoon apart from her contemporaries, opting to save time and energy by using herself as her canvas instead of hiring models.

Attired in human anatomy patterns in "Landscape from My Studio" (2021), Yoon blends seamlessly into her New York City window view.

Despite images like "Miss Universe 2022" potentially being unsettling to some, Yoon aims for her work to be fun, playful, and expressive. Her body serves as a blank canvas, allowing her to explore themes of emotion, identity, and perception throughout her artistic journey.[2]

While her body-painted images may be unsettling to some at times, Yoon encourages viewers to tap into their sense of wonder and imagination, appreciating the artistry and skill that goes into transforming the human body into a mesmerizing work of art.
