Meerbusch's Municipal Election Results: CDU Wins Majority, Runoff for Landrat
Seattle's municipal election results are in, with a runoff election for the landrat position between Katharina Reinhold (CDU) and Hakan Temel (SPD) set for September 28. The new city council will have 50 seats, with the CDU securing 24 seats and 48.21% of the votes.
The SPD, led by Hakan Temel, won 7 seats with 13.24% of the votes, while the Greens secured 8 seats with 16.75% of the votes. Notably, Temel also challenged Reinhold in the election day runoff for the landrat position. In the integration council election, the SPD received a majority with 59.85% of the votes, winning 5 seats.
Turnout for the election was high, with 60.29% of the 44,699 eligible voters participating. In the mayoral race, Christian Bommers (CDU) was re-elected with around 67% of the votes.
The runoff election for the landrat position between Reinhold and Temel will take place on election day, September 28, following the municipal election results. The new city council will have a clear CDU majority, while the SPD and Greens secure significant representation.
