Meerbusch Local and Integration Council Elections Results, 2025
In the local election held on September 14, 2025, Christian Bommers (CDU) was re-elected as Mayor of Meerbusch with approximately 67% of the votes. The voter turnout was slightly higher than in 2020, at 60.29%. The CDU also made an impressive gain, securing 48.21% of the votes and 24 seats in the new Meerbusch city council, an increase of 8.12 percentage points from the 2020 election.
In the parallel Integration Council election, the SPD secured a significant victory with 59.85% of the votes, securing 5 seats. The Greens followed closely with 16.75% of the votes, resulting in 8 seats, although this represents a decrease of 6.89% compared to the 2020 election.
The AfD made a notable advance, receiving 6.38% of the votes and securing 3 seats, an increase of 4.96%. The Left also saw an increase, garnering 2.22% of the votes and 1 seat. The FDP and UWG/Free Voters saw decreases, with the FDP receiving 6.90% of the votes and 3 seats (a decrease of 3.34%) and UWG/Free Voters receiving 3.25% of the votes and 2 seats (a decrease of 2.47%).
Individual candidates Thomas Gabernig and Agnès Krah each earned 1 seat, with 20.71% and 13.21% of the votes, respectively. Green-alternative Meerbusch and Borislav Tomov each received 1.70% and 6.24% of the votes, respectively, earning 1 and 0 seats, respectively.

A runoff election will take place on Sunday, September 28, between Katharina Reinhold (CDU) and Hakan Temel (SPD) for the position of district administrator of Meerbusch. The candidate who will participate in the runoff election was determined as Katharina Reinhold, as no candidate achieved the necessary majority in the first round.
