Medicare Part B Premiums to Rise Significantly in 2026

The Medicare Trustees Report for 2025 has revealed a significant increase in Medicare Part B premiums for 2026. The standard monthly premium is set to rise to $206.20, up from $185 in 2025. High earners may face even higher costs, with estimates suggesting nearly $629 per month.

This increase comes as part of an annual trend in Medicare premiums. In 2025, the premium was $185, a jump from $174.70 in 2024. The 2026 increase could be more substantial, with the Trustees Report projecting a $21.50 rise from the 2025 rate.

The Medicare deductibles may also see an increase in 2026, further adding to the healthcare cost estimates for retirement planning. Seniors can now estimate their 2026 Social Security benefit, which includes the 2026 cost-of-living adjustment (COLA). The Medicare's hold-harmless provision ensures that premium increases do not reduce Social Security checks.

The Medicare Trustees Report for 2025 paints a picture of rising healthcare costs for seniors in 2026. With the standard Medicare Part B premium set to reach $206.20 per month, and potential increases in deductibles, seniors are advised to factor these changes into their retirement budget planning.
