US actress Matthew Perry tragically passed away in 2023, following a fatal ketamine overdose. The primary supplier, Salvador Plasencia, has revealed plans to admit his guilt in court in the upcoming week.
According to the US Department of Justice, Plasencia will confess to distributing ketamine in four instances. This revelation comes as he faces potential imprisonment for up to 40 years.
In a damning revelation, Plasencia allegedly wrote, "I wonder how much this idiot will pay," in a message send beforehand. It's claimed he supplied Perry with the anesthetic ketamine at inflated prices and even administered it via injection, according to the Department of Justice's statement. Plasencia's actions are believed to be partially responsible for the "Friends" star's untimely demise.
"Miss you today," reminisced the "Friends" cast on the first anniversary of Perry's death.
Plasencia is the fourth of five defendants linked to the case. Mark Chavez, another doctor, pleaded guilty back in October 2022. The fifth defendant, known as the "Ketamin Queen" in Hollywood circles, denies the allegations.
Ketamine is often used as an anesthetic and for depression treatment in medical and therapeutic settings. However, due to its hallucinogenic effects, it is also trafficked on the black market for recreational use. In this case, Perry's addiction issues were allegedly exploited by the defendants for their own gain. Perry was discovered deceased in his Los Angeles home's whirlpool late October 2022, with the coroner's report indicating "acute ketamine effects" as the cause of death.
In the 1990s, Perry rose to fame for his comedic portrayal of Chandler Bing in the globally popular television series "Friends." His struggles with addiction to medication and alcohol were documented in his autobiography, published in 2022.
