Reduced Subsidies and New Tasks for State Forest Authority - Mecklenburg’s Forestry Agency Shifts Focus to Climate and Nature Protection

The agency, which generates €130 million in revenue—including €40 million from subsidies—will see its commercial operations pushed toward breaking even. At the same time, funding for services like consulting and forest education centres will drop by €1.5 million.

The agency will now prioritise climate change and nature protection alongside its existing work. Staff will move into different roles, but all jobs will stay secure. The adjustments aim to balance financial demands with expanded environmental duties.
