In 2024, youth welfare offices in the state received 5,502 reports of suspected child endangerment. Investigations confirmed 1,718 cases—an increase of 2.7% compared to 2023. Of these, 1,120 children experienced acute endangerment, suffering serious physical, mental, or emotional harm.
The proposed Child Protection Act follows a year of rising concerns over child welfare in the region.
