MCU may potentially introduce Venom in Spider-Man 4, as the comic book narrative of the Scorpion suggests a long-awaited Spider-Man versus Symbiote confrontation on the silver screen.

In the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the anticipated return of Mac Gargan as the Scorpion in the upcoming film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is causing quite a stir among fans. Actor Michael Mando will reprise his role as the menacing villain, setting the stage for a potential transformation into Venom.

First introduced in 1964's Amazing Spider-Man #19, Mac Gargan has a long history of menacing Spider-Man, J. Jonah Jameson, and other heroes. His transformation into the Scorpion occurred in Amazing Spider-Man #20, at the hands of scientist Dr. Farley Stillwell. Gargan was given scorpion-like powers and a special suit with an acid-dripping stinger, making him a formidable adversary.

In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Gargan made a brief appearance as a human gangster. However, in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, he is expected to play a significant role, suited up in his classic Scorpion armor. The film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, is set to release on July 31, 2026, and marks the fourth instalment in Marvel Studios and Sony's joint Spidey franchise.

Gargan's role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day may extend beyond just being a typical adversary. There are theories and insider rumours suggesting that after being defeated in this movie, Gargan could bond with the Venom symbiote, especially if Peter Parker were to acquire and then rid himself of the symbiote in future films (such as Avengers: Secret Wars and Spider-Man 5). This transition, similar to the comic book arc, would make Gargan's Venom version more lethal and unstable than previous hosts.

Venom, played by Topher Grace, appeared in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3. While the MCU's Venom hasn't technically fully appeared yet, Eddie Brock did have a brief cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home. A small glob of symbiote goo from Tom Hardy's Venom was left in the MCU in Spider-Man: No Way Home, hinting at a potential Venom appearance in the future.

Gargan's Instagram posts hint at a potential Scorpion/Venom hybrid in the upcoming film. If these theories prove true, fans could finally witness the monstrous Venom vs. Spider-Man showdown we've always desired to see on the big screen.
