The image shows a group of people standing around a race car on a track, with a stadium in the background filled with people sitting in the stands. There are banners with text on them, a fence, grass, trees, buildings, and a clear blue sky. The car appears to be a Formula E car, and the people around it appear to be celebrating a victory, as if they have just won the race.

McLaren's rough 2026 start worsens with double DNS in China

McLaren's start to the 2026 Formula 1 season has been tough, with no podiums in the first two races. The team faced further setbacks when both cars failed to start at the Chinese Grand Prix. Despite this, CEO Zak Brown remains upbeat and has rallied his team ahead of the next race in Japan.

The Chinese Grand Prix ended in disappointment for McLaren as neither Lando Norris nor Oscar Piastri could take their places on the grid. Battery problems forced both drivers out before the race even began, marking a double DNS for the team.

After the race, Brown addressed his crew with an encouraging speech. He praised McLaren's culture and expressed full confidence in the team's ability to bounce back. He also described Norris and Piastri as the best drivers in the world, reinforcing his belief in their talent. Looking ahead to the Japanese Grand Prix, Brown urged the team to focus on one goal: winning. He guaranteed that when McLaren next claims a victory, distractions like speed traps or technical faults would no longer be a concern.

McLaren now turns its attention to Japan, aiming to turn its season around. The team has yet to secure a podium in 2026, but Brown's leadership suggests determination remains high. The next race will test whether their efforts translate into results.
