The image shows a group of people standing around a race car on a track, with a stadium in the background filled with people sitting in the stands. There are banners with text on them, a fence, grass, trees, buildings, and a clear blue sky. The car appears to be a Formula E car, and the people around it appear to be celebrating a victory, as if they have just won the race.

The London High Court has settled a high-profile contract dispute between McLaren and driver Álex Palou. The case ended with Palou ordered to pay over $12 million in damages. Meanwhile, Cadillac's new Formula 1 team has unveiled its first chassis name, honouring a motorsport legend.

The legal battle between McLaren and Palou began after a contract disagreement. The court ruled in McLaren's favour, requiring the Spanish driver to cover significant financial losses. Despite the outcome, McLaren CEO Zak Brown faced no personal blame for the conflict. Palou later admitted he had mishandled the situation, citing poor advice at the time.

The dispute has since been resolved through a settlement, though the financial penalty remains in place.

In a separate development, Cadillac's incoming F1 team announced its first chassis will be called the MAC-26. The name pays tribute to 1978 world champion Mario Andretti, recognising his role in shaping the team's ambitions. However, no such chassis has previously existed in F1, as Cadillac's entry as a GM-powered team is set for 2026. The naming choice carries symbolic weight but has no immediate impact on racing strategy or fan engagement.

Palou's settlement with McLaren closes a contentious chapter, though the $12 million penalty stands. The driver's admission of mishandling the case marks a rare public reflection on the dispute. Meanwhile, Cadillac's MAC-26 chassis name sets a nostalgic tone for its 2026 debut, linking the team's future to Andretti's legacy.
