Saying Goodbye to a Legend: Geissler Bids Farewell as MBC Business Mastermind
Business Leader Geissler Resigns: MBC's Aera Come to an End - MBC's top executive, Geissler, steps down from CEO position.
Let's cut to the chase - after an incredible 17-year run, Martin Geissler, the heart and soul of German basketball, is moving on from his role as Business Manager at Syntainics MBC, based in Weißenfels. This news breaks the hearts of many, marking the end of an era that saw the club reach unprecedented heights. By December 31, Geissler will be stepping down to seize new opportunities.
Starting way back in 2002 as the press spokesperson for the club, Geissler cemented himself in MBC's history by becoming Team Manager just two years later. In 2008, he was promoted to Business Manager, and in 2016, he took on an additional role as the managing partner of MBM GmbH, the parent company. In these roles, he spearheaded sports management, marketing, and league and association work, ensuring the club's success.
Geissler's legacy includes numerous triumphs such as ProA championships, promotions to the Bundesliga in 2009, 2012, and 2017, and a third-place finish in the women's Bundesliga Toyota DBBL. The pièce de résistance came during the previous season, when the club hosted the biggest national basketball event, the BBL Pokal Final4, and claimed their first national title, and made it to the playoffs for the German championship for the first time in 24 years.
Geissler's impact extends beyond the court as well, as he masterminded the successful hosting of major events like the VIMODROM TOP FOUR event for the BBL Cup at the Stadthalle Weißenfels.
Although it's bittersweet, Geissler will continue to hold a stake in the club as a shareholder after his departure. So while we bid farewell to one of our greatest, we welcome whatever new challenges await him.
