Maximo Kirchner uttering "This isn't how the game is played" following conviction of Cristina
After the verdict against Cristina Kirchner in the Vialidad case, Maximiliano Kirchner, Cristina's son and a deputy, rebuked the decision and accused a hidden intention to "demolish the political enemy." "These aren't the rules of the game," he said, referring to the ruling by the Supreme Court.
"There are two aspects: politics, which concerns me the most, and personal as I'm preparing myself to cope with this. These aren't the rules of the game, there's an established culture of corrosive functioning. I feel personal sadness for Cristina and for my country," the deputy expressed on C5N.
He further asserted that the political target is always Peronism or "anything that reeks national and popular" and questioned their desire to suppress Cristina Kirchner. "They don't even want her to compete. First, they attempted with 'ficha limpia'. They have these three gentlemen who ensure their privileges", he declared.
Citing the deputy José Luis Espert's insults towards his sister Florencia Kirchner, Maximiliano remarked: "His issue is that he was in a different place than the TV studios. Beyond the vehemence that may arise, there's persistent aggression in the officialdom, which was installed by Mauricio Macri. They only aim to destroy the political adversary".
Maximiliano Kirchner suggested that the sentence against his mother means Argentina's future is at stake and criticized the opposition of Kirchnerism. "They have squandered part of the Argentine heritage. I believe this says a lot about Macri and the nation we are living in when discussing".
The deputy highlighted the militant mobilizations to Cristina Kirchner's house and various points across the country and emphasized the public's support. "I feel there's an accompaniment of the people because she also accompanied the people. With her achievements and mistakes, she accompanied the mothers with the AUH, the working class with Procrear, the students with the computers, to prepare for a future like today, with artificial intelligence," he explained.
Continuing the conversation, Maximiliano ruled out the possibility that Peronism doesn't contest the upcoming elections before the Supreme Court ruling and elaborated: "Cristina's calling is always electoral. One should vote because it's a right that must be exercised, even in blank. The representative system is very damaged".
Before the sentence against Cristina, Maximiliano Kirchner dismissed the idea of an accelerated inheritance and expanded: "In 2014 I said there are no miraculous last names, neither mine nor anyone else's. There must be a passion for work. The last name doesn't confer virtues because, yes, one must work for them. I've always been happy that the voices of many companions are known. There are things much more dramatic than a deputy more or less".
The deputy also criticized the opposition's approach to discussions, labeling it "complicated" to sit down and negotiate without acknowledging the other's points. "This cannot be a festival of vanities and egos," he expressed. "If I go play truco in a meeting, I'm wasting time." He suggested that debates and differences can be held in a dialogue-focused setting but that a media aspect distracts from the necessary discussions.
Analyzing the governments of his parents with those of Mauricio Macri, Javier Milei, and Fernando De La Rúa, Maximiliano Kirchner noted differences in "administration." "Nestor left the presidency with a 75% positive image and Cristina with a complete square. That never happened before. When the process started, the political caste, as the President states, couldn't walk down the street," he noted.
Finally, he found it "strange" that the president who ended her government with a complete square of supporters –referring to Cristina Kirchner- was now in prison and De La Rua "wasn't even called." "They stole the Argentines' savings and it was Cristina who returned them," he claimed.
"In the last 10 years, people have had it very bad and the Clarín Group has had it very well. They kept everything, now they added Telefonica and rebuilt Entel," he added.
- Maximiliano Kirchner showed concern about the ongoing political nature of the case against his mother, Cristina, in the Vialidad case, expressing that this is a part of a broader culture of corrosive functioning in the "politics" realm and accused the opposition of targeting Peronism or anything that resembles national and popular sentiments, particularly Cristina.
- While discussing the ruling by the Supreme Court against Cristina Kirchner, Maximiliano Kirchner also mentioned the 'policy-and-legislation' aspect and questioned the desire to suppress his mother, criticizing the opposition of Kirchnerism for squandering part of the Argentine heritage and suggesting that this reflects negatively on the nation and particularly former President Mauricio Macri.
