Max Silver reveals Alex Foxen's contradictory actions: advocating for a WSOP boycott amid advertising his poker application
The WSOP 2021: A Brewing Controversy Among Poker Pros
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2021 has certainly been peppered with a fresh controversy. Max Silver, a seasoned poker pro, has taken fellow player Alex Foxen to task for promoting his poker app while advocating for others to boycott the event.
In September 2021, Foxen and Kristen Bicknell unveiled a brand-new poker app, designed to monitor poker results and provide invaluable stats for pros.
Promoting a new product is standard practice for developers, and Foxen has been active on social media, hyping up his new creation. No harm, no foul, right?
Well, not exactly, according to Max Silver, who found Foxen's tactics a bit fishy. Allegedly, Silver believes Foxen is utilizing his anti-vaccination stance as a means to boost his poker app's visibility.
Foxen has repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction with mandatory vaccinations. He even encouraged players to voice their displeasure about the WSOP's vaccine policies.
Foxen vehemently claimed that the WSOP was working hand-in-glove with pharmaceutical companies, exerting pressure on players to get vaccinated.
Bicknell echoed Foxen's sentiments and vocally opposed the WSOP's vaccine policy. She expressed pride in Foxen for standing up for his beliefs.
Enough is enough, says Silver, who accused Foxen of exploiting the matter for personal gain.
Foxen remained composed and countered Silver's critique, acknowledging a slight contradiction in using a WSOP boycott to promote his poker app.
But Silver wasn't about to let it rest there.
The Twitterverse didn't hesitate to chime in, sharing their thoughts on the escalating feud:
- Jack Tatry: "Spot on"
Things between Foxen and Silver don't seem to be heating up anytime soon. Stay tuned for more updates on this year's WSOP and other poker-related news as they unfold.
