Max Eberl's Recruitment Plans Seem akin to Achieving the Impossible Square - Max Eberl's intended transfer focus equals the mathematical product of a circle's diameter squared.

Bayern's sporting director, Max Eberl, is juggling a tricky task this transfer season - one that resembles the age-old conundrum of squaring the circle. But hey, who said it was easy being Bayern?

The Revived Rumor Mill: Is Jamie Gittens Bayern-Bound?

The quest for a replacement for the departing Leroy Sané has led back to Jamie Gittens, whose name has resurfaced recently. While Gittens was rumored to be joining Chelsea, the deal allegedly fizzled out. Now, there are whispers that talks between Chelsea and the young winger have revived.

However, this leaves Bayern in a precarious position as the Bavarians are also reportedly interested in Gittens. The "Ruhr" news, known for its connections within the BVB universe, reported a secret meeting between BVB CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke and Eberl regarding Gittens. Yet, Watzke swiftly denied the report, labeling it an "absolute duck."

Rumors about other top-tier wingers such as Bradley Barcola (PSG), Nico Williams (Athletic Bilbao), and Rafael Leao (AC Milan) are also circulating, but Sané's replacement remains a mystery. The trend is clear: Bayern doesn't secure every player they want anymore, as demonstrated by Florian Wirtz's move to Liverpool.

Cutting Costs: A Top Priority for Eberl

Apart from finding Sané's replacement, Eberl is mandated to cut costs due to FC Bayern's extravagant salaries. The likes of Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry, who are playing exceptional football at the Club World Cup, are up for sale. However, their contracts run until 2027 (Coman) and 2026 (Gnabry), and they've reportedly expressed no interest in leaving.

The defensive duo of Min-jae Kim and João Palhinha, who joined Munich for €80 million and has since mostly warmed the bench, also find themselves on the chopping block. A sale would result in a loss but relieve Bayern's payroll pressure.

Two replacements are already on board with national player and center-back Jonathan Tah already playing for Bayern at the Club World Cup, and midfield talent Tom Bischof joining from Hoffenheim.
