In the world of historical epics, "Chief of War" stands out as a captivating series that delves into the unification of Hawai'i in the 18th century. Set across stunning landscapes and brimming with action, the series is now available to stream on Apple TV+.

The second episode, titled 'Changing Tides', introduces a new character named Ka'ahumanu (played by Luciane Buchanan). Born as the daughter of Hawaiian war chief Moku and the sister of the Maui king, Ka'ahumanu finds herself entwined in the unfolding events.

The story truly gains momentum in 'Changing Tides', as European explorers begin to touch down on the islands, setting the stage for a brewing war. Ka'iana, our lead character, finds himself right in the middle of it all.

Ka'iana and his family have fled to Maui to rescue another member of their party. Their journey leads them to a cave, where they unexpectedly encounter Ka'ahumanu. However, their meeting is cut short when Ka'iana's pursuers, Maui soldiers, ambush them in a bid to take a pistol from one of the explorers.

In the ensuing chaos, Ka'iana is forced to jump off a cliff edge to escape. His family manages to find him, but they discover that Heke, the member they were seeking, is still running and injured during their search.

Meanwhile, over on O'ahu, Maui Prince Kupule and his family are being guarded by some Maui soldiers. The series is deeply rooted in Polynesian history and folklore, with elements of traditional battles and European exploration interwoven throughout.

As the story unfolds, Ka'ahumanu learns about Ka'iana's mission and decides to join him in his search for his family. She also reveals to him that her father, Moku, had once fought off the famous explorer Captain Cook some years prior.
