Matt Luff’s NHL return: St. Louis Blues call up scoring leader from AHL

The St. Louis Blues have recalled forward Matt Luff from their AHL affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds. The 28-year-old has been a standout performer this season, leading the team in scoring before his promotion to the NHL. His return comes after signing with the Blues as a free agent earlier this year.

Luff joined the Blues organization on 1 July 2025, agreeing to a free-agent deal. Before this, he had already built a solid NHL résumé, featuring in 106 regular-season games across stints with the Los Angeles Kings, Nashville Predators, and Detroit Red Wings.

Luff now rejoins the Blues, bringing experience from both the NHL and AHL. His scoring touch in Springfield suggests he could provide an offensive boost for St. Louis. The move also rewards his strong start to the campaign with the Thunderbirds.
