Football legend Mats Hummels has bid adieu to the pitch and is now set to make his debut as a TV analyst for Amazon Prime Video. The 2014 World Cup winner, fresh off a stint with AS Roma, will provide insights and commentary during Champions League matches come the upcoming season.
"I'm thrilled to delve into the world of football analysis on camera," Hummels shares, expressing his excitement. The roster at Amazon Prime Video's expert team also includes names like Matthias Sammer, Christoph Kramer, Tabea Kemme, and Josephine Henning.
Pondering over a return to Borussia Dortmund for the Club World Cup, Hummels is currently not eyeing a comeback, according to sporting director Sebastian Kehl, but injuries to other defenders may just alter the situation.
Having made a name for himself as a central defender, playing with Bayern Munich and Dortmund, Hummels was a key player in the successful Dortmund team under coach Jürgen Klopp, who won the championship in 2011 and 2012, and the DFB Cup in 2012. His most significant achievement was winning the World Cup in Brazil in 2014. Over the course of 78 international matches, he scored five goals.
Meanwhile, changes have been afoot at Amazon Prime Video's moderation and commentary teams, with Jonas Friedrich stepping up as a new moderator. A new commentator is yet to be confirmed.
