Mats Hummels Switches Gears with Amazon Prime Video Job
Mats Hummels to Assume the Role of Television Expert Next Season.
Veteran footballer Mats Hummels is kicking off a new chapter in his career as a football analyst for Amazon Prime Video. Starting from the upcoming Champions League season, Hummels will be offering his expert insights for top matches every Tuesday.
Hummels, a two-time German champion with Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern Munich, is jumping into the TV world with both feet, drawing on his 90 Champions League appearances spanning a dozen seasons to provide engaging and insightful commentary. His fellow analysts will include Matthias Sammer, Christoph Kramer, Tabea Kemme, and Josephine Henning.
"I'm truly thrilled about talking football on camera," shared Hummels. "The Champions League games have an unparalleled appeal."
Following his departure from AS Roma in the Italian Serie A, Hummels seems to have no immediate plans for a football comeback at BVB for the Club World Cup, according to sports director Sebastian Kehl. However, if key defenders like Nico Schlotterbeck sustain injuries, this situation could change.
Meanwhile, Amazon Prime Video is also shuffling things up on the commentator front, with new presenter Jonas Friedrich taking over in the wake of Alex Schlüter's move to ARD's "Sportschau." Another commentator is yet to be named.
